This weekend is my birthday, and to celebrate, I’m doing nothing but designing all week long! Fitting in time to develop new styles is something I cherish when production and paperwork seem to take over, and as frustrating as it can be at times, there is nothing I love more than long hours in my atelier creating the perfect dress!
Right now the look I’m creating for the Jessica Rose line is inspired by vintage hollywood glamour, and this still featuring Sophia Loren in the 1966 film Arabesque speaks for itself.
Just back in the studio after catching a matinée of this magical film – Midnight in Paris from Woody Allen, and am absolutely in love with it! The visuals, story line, characters – it’s just perfect! Je t’aime Paris. . .
Don’t you just love vintage style leopard print? Here on Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson in the 1967 film The Graduate. Chic and seductive with just the right amount of kitsch!

I’m still so in love with how well these photos from our ‘Romantic Minimalism’ campaign turned out, using only sunlight and a 6-in-1 reflector for the lighting! There’s no question photographer Joao Carlos is a master- and Westcott Lighting was so impressed with our shoot that they featured it in their 2011 catalogue.

It’s hard to believe it was all the way back in July of last year that we last worked with Joao Carlos photographing the Romantic Minimalism collection. Recently, while he was making a stop in Toronto as part of his hectic work schedule, we were lucky enough to meet up with Joao again and have him shoot the Fall/Winter 2011 Collection from Jessica Rose Design. Using an almost identical team as last summer, no one let the early March cold and snow get in the way as everyone picked up right where we left off during the heat wave of last July. We feel privileged to be able to work with such a great team with such great energy and everything felt more like a day of fun rather than a day of work!
